Late-Game Survival Gunpowder Farm — 100k Gunpowder/h + 3.9M Storage

Features

  • 50 × 50 spawning platform
  • 8 shulker loaders in series
  • Automatic minecart recycling system
  • Main storage with capacity for 2,181 shulkers = 3,768,768 gunpowder
  • Secondary storage with capacity for 139,776 gunpowder without shulkers
  • Total storage capacity: 3,908,544 items
  • Approximately 40 hours of AFK storage
  • Automatic minecart filter

Included in the Schematic

The schematic includes several configurations:

  • Full storage system

  • Nether tunnel

  • Platform with uncut portals

    • Can be stacked up to 3 modules for good efficiency.
  • Platform with cut portals

    • Requires update suppression
    • Can be stacked up to 5 modules before the high map becomes less efficient.
  • 3-platform package with cut portals

How Does It Work?

This farm is somewhat complex because it carefully takes advantage of distance and creeper spawning conditions.

I recommend having a basic understanding of:

  • Portal linking
  • Despawn sphere
  • Mobcaps
  • Pack spawning
  • Spawn efficiency
  • Update suppression

The cut-portal version uses update suppression to allow more modules to be stacked, although there is also a version using uncut portals.

Building Guide

1. Find a Suitable Location

Find a relatively flat area. A desert is preferred, although it is not mandatory.

Flatten at least a 100 × 100 area.

2. Build the Bottom Platform

In the center of the flattened area, build a 60 × 60 platform using glass or any other spawn-proof block.

This platform is important because it helps maximize pack spawning.

3. Place the Schematic

Place the schematic directly in the center of the prepared area.

You can choose whichever configuration you want and remove the ones you don't need.

Do not move the storage vertically.

The storage is already positioned at a predetermined height for optimal efficiency. Moving it higher or lower will reduce the farm's efficiency.

4. Build the Storage First

I strongly recommend building the storage system before the actual farm.

It took me quite a while to design and fine-tune the storage so that everything works properly, so you should test it before spending time building all the spawning platforms.

5. Build the Creeper Module

Build the desired module — the one with the creeper pixel art.

Once it is built, enter through any of the portals in the module.

6. Build the Nether Tunnel

Once you arrive in the Nether:

  1. Write down the exact coordinates of the portal.
  2. Break that portal.
  3. Go up to the Nether roof.
  4. From the roof, go at least 50 blocks higher, using the coordinates of the portal you just broke as your reference.
  5. Build the tunnel from the schematic at that location.

Once the tunnel is built in Survival, enter through any of its portals.

You should be sent directly to the storage's killing chamber.

7. Activate the Farm

As soon as you arrive inside the killing chamber:

  1. Immediately break the glass so you can get out.
  2. Leave the killing chamber.
  3. Close the entrance.

The creepers will start spawning as soon as you are correctly positioned in the Overworld.

If a creeper falls into the killing chamber while you're still inside... F in the chat. 💀

Important Notes

  • Do not modify any rails, minecarts, repeaters, or other components. Place everything exactly as shown in the schematic.
  • The bottom glass platform is required to maximize pack spawning.
  • Be very careful with quasi-connectivity.
  • If you are playing on a version older than 1.20, you can use update skipping without any issues and cut the portals to stack multiple modules.
  • If you are playing on a version older than 1.19, the minecart filters will not work and the farm will break. This is because, before that version, breaking a minecart with hopper dropped the minecart and hopper as separate items.
  • If you leave the farm and don't have a chunk loader, you should disable the minecart system.
  • The farm could produce approximately 2.5× more if you design a killing chamber based around Looting III.
  • The despawn sphere has a radius of 128 blocks. You can take advantage of this distance if you want to move the storage, although the included design already places it at the most efficient distance.
  • You do not need update suppression to build the farm. Without it, production only decreases by around 3%, allowing you to avoid the headache of setting up update suppression.
